Stellantis Design celebrates 10 years of the Drive for Design competition
Ten years ago, Trostle revived a competition he won as a high school student. In the years that followed, Trostle worked with a plethora of students and their parents, illustrating the benefits of attending art school and ultimately educating them on potential career paths in automotive design. Some of these former candidates landed internships and jobs with Stellantis design studios.
“Winning is not the primary goal of this competition, it is about discovering career opportunities, helping young artists to perfect their craft and educating parents of young artists to a rewarding profession where they can use their artistry,” Trostle said. “No matter where these students end up after graduation, it has been rewarding for our team to be able to positively impact someone’s life and career.”
Drive for design contest details
This year’s challenge focuses on sketching a Chrysler-branded vehicle of the future and is open to US high school students in grades 10-12. As in the professional world, there is an emergency, registrations are made by May 13, 2022.
Three winning sketches will be selected and these artists will receive a virtual design day with leading designers from Stellantis, Wacom and Apple and a scholarship to participate in a four-week summer program at College of Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit.
