BANGALORE, India, July 29, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Lexus India has announced the sixth edition of its most famous – Lexus Design Award India 2023 (LDAI), creating a broad yet unique platform for designers to showcase their talent and creativity. Registrations will be accepted from 29e July at 28e September 2022. Lexus India seeks innovative ideas that contribute to a prosperous and better future for all through the power of design and technology.

LDAI, since the first edition in 2018, has seen more than 3,000 creative proposals from designers across the country who have contributed to a better future through their innovative design. The selected designs aimed to solve problems in a wide range of fields such as healthcare, energy conservation, durable goods, waste management, among others.

Speaking at the launch of the Lexus Design Award India 2023, Naveen Sonithe Chairman of Lexus India said: “Lexus Design Award India is a great platform for design talents across the country to showcase their originality while implementing solutions for a better future. LDAI has witnessed many interesting designs that will create a better future for the company. Some of them were LDAI 2022 open category winner ‘Life Box’ – a conservation box for human hearts to increase travel time and distances, UniCast – a resizable cast for fracture healing, CleanRat – a sewer maintenance robot powered by IoT, ACCUFILL – a device that provides a real-time reading of the fuel pumped into the vehicle’s tank, Ice Heal – to treat sports injuries quickly and Samarth – a modular air purification system.

Anticipate, innovate and captivate are the three essential design principles for entries to LDAI allowing aspirants to express their innovative thinking and originality who anticipate the challenges facing society and imagine an engaging and innovative solution that will contribute to a sustainable future, thereby improving transparent way the happiness of all.

Lexus Design Award India 2023 will invite entries from the following two main categories and the following nine sub-categories:

A. Established work (customer/self-commissioned)

  2. furniture design
  3. textile design
  4. Craftsmanship
  5. Eco-Innovation
  6. Lifestyle accessories design
  7. Design for Social Impact

B. Conceptual work

  1. Student Category
  2. Open category

The judging panel of renowned design experts will select one winner in the Established Work category and six runners-up in the Conceptual Work category based on rigorous and elaborate judging criteria. These finalists in the Conceptual Work category will be guided by leading and eminent mentors in various design disciplines. This once-in-a-lifetime mentoring experience is at the heart of the LEXUS DESIGN AWARD INDIA reputation for excellence. After fine-tuning their work with their mentors, the finalists will have the opportunity to present their projects to the jury, which will then select a winner in each category. LDAI has announced a new element of the award where the 2 winners in the concept category will receive a prototype development fund to help them take their project from concept to reality. They also have the chance to fly to Milano and experience the Lexus Design event at Milan Design Week in Italy in 2023.

The Lexus Design Award India (LDAI) seeks to recognize and reward the best industrial design by Indian designers, institutions, design consultancies and corporate in-house design teams.
